Kremlin: No nuclear arms deal on the horizon
The Kremlin rejected a proposal that US President Donald Trump's decision to withdraw from a major arms control agreement could pave the way for a new treaty.
"There is no prospect of a new agreement" to replace the Intermediate Nuclear Power Treaty, and Russian President Vladimir Putin's spokesman Dimitri Piskov told reporters Tuesday that "there is no prospect of a new agreement" to replace the treaty.
John Bolton, national security adviser to Moscow, is in Moscow this week to discuss security cooperation with Russia and is expected to meet with Putin later in the day.
US President Donald Trump announced last Saturday that Russia had violated the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and that the United States should leave it.
