Royal ends his fast against Blazen but doubts continue
MADRID - Real Madrid have eased tension over their frustrating results after a 2-1 win at home to Victoria Plzen in the Champions League, ending a series of five straight games without a win.
Karim Benzema opened the scoring with a header early in the first half but Real was lucky not to receive the equalizer before the break after three serious chances for the Czech team.
Brazilian left-back Marcelo scored the second goal with a shot over the keeper in the 55th minute and missed many opportunities to extend the lead, allowing Patrick Hrusovsky to reduce the lead in the 78th minute.
Real are at the top of Group G with six points after three games but have not shown a convincing performance ahead of the summit meeting with their arch-rivals Barcelona on Sunday in the Spanish league.
