A surprise candidate for Real Madrid

Real Madrid are looking to sign Portuguese coach Leonardo Jardim of Monaco, despite the promising results of Argentinian Santiago Solari, the temporary replacement of Gulen Lobetigi, who is also reported to be poor, according to press reports.
The Associated Press reported that a source close to Jardim, 44, has revealed the Champions League's desire in the last three seasons to be the Portuguese "the first coach of his team permanently."

The newspaper "Marca" Spanish for its part in the past days, that the President of the club, Florentino Perez, wants to take over the Portuguese as the manager of the first team, if not keep Solari in his current position.

Jardim led Monaco to the Ligue 1 title in the 2016-2017 season for the first time in 17 years, but he was sacked last month after the team fell dramatically, replacing former star Thierry Henry.

During his time in Monaco, Jardim was able to take the lead in the ranks of young players who have become world-renowned names and moved to other clubs, such as Cillian Mbabé, Fabieno and Toma Limar.

Jardim previously oversaw several clubs, including Piramar, Braga, Olympiacos of Greece and Sporting.

Lopegeti left the white castle after 14 games in office because of the poor results of the royal team, most recently the humiliating loss to rivals Barcelona 1-5 in the Liga, having resolved this season instead of Zinedine Zidane, who left after leading the team to 3 consecutive titles in the Champions League .

Solari, coach of the Radeef side of Castilla, has so far played Real in two games, winning the first in a 4-0 win over Melilla in the Cup and a 2-0 win over Valladolid.

But the rules of the Spanish federation do not allow Solari to remain a temporary coach for more than 14 days, so Real have to install him or hire another coach by next Monday.

Other names in the media include Italian Antonio Conte (despite reports that negotiations have failed between him and Real) and Spain coach Roberto Martinez.
