A NATO-led mission in Afghanistan said one US soldier was killed and another wounded in what appeared to be an inside attack in the capital Kabul on Saturday.
"Initial reports indicate that the attacker is a member of the Afghan Defense and Security Forces and initial reports also indicate that the attacker was killed instantly by other Afghan forces," the mission said in a statement.
The two soldiers were evacuated to Bagram Air Base, where the wounded soldier is being treated for medical treatment. He is in stable condition, while the name of the dead soldier is withheld until the next of kin is notified.
