African swine fever is spreading in a new province in China

China's Ministry of Agriculture (MOA) announced on Tuesday that a hot swine fever epidemic has been detected in central China's Hubei Province.
The disease killed six pigs out of a total of 147 pigs in two adjacent farms in Wuxiwe, the ministry said.

China is struggling to curb the rapid outbreak of infectious disease, with reports indicating that it has appeared in more than 50 farms across the country.

Chinese authorities have in recent months executed thousands of pigs after the spread of deadly epidemic fever in the country.

The infection is transmitted through African pork.
