An "unprecedented" image of a collision of two galaxies

The galaxies collide with each other on a regular basis, but this does not destroy them, but makes the galaxies combine to create a new galaxy, which scientists have documented for the first time.
According to the New Atlas website, astronomers have for the first time filmed and documented some stages of collision and fusion of two galaxies, a precedent in space science and the universe.

He explained that this process was carried out with the help of Keck and Hubble astronomers.

The new images point to the passage of black holes very close to each other, at a distance of 300 light-years.

Black holes are often found in the centers of galaxies, but how they are formed and their relation to the galaxy is still under discussion by astronomers.

"The vision of integrating these huge black holes was very impressive," said research head Michael Kos. "In our study, we saw two galaxies collide the moment we took pictures."

"The collision and integration process takes billions of years. Obviously, we will never be able to see the whole show, but we can compile observations from different stages of the process."
