"Serious charges" for Messi and his father in Argentina

The Argentine prosecutor's office on Saturday charged "serious charges" to Barcelona's star Lionel Messi and his father, according to Spanish news agency EFI.
The Spanish agency said that the public prosecutor accused Messi and his father of money laundering through an institution called "flea" Argentine.

Attorney General Pablo Torano said he was investigating whether the Leo Messi Foundation had not disclosed the millions of donations it had received and had given to fictitious companies in other countries.

According to sources, the charge against the player and his father means that they are required to appear before the local judiciary, at a date not yet determined.

The accusation comes after the testimony of a former Leo Messi employee against the player and his father, stating that part of the money is not mentioned in the accounts and is transferred to fictitious companies in other countries.

The star of Barça receives huge donations, but his father, Jorge Messi, has always stressed that there are not enough funds to carry out social programs, according to a lawsuit filed by lawyer Pedro Fontaneto.

Founded in 2007, Leo Messi is a non-profit organization working to develop individual initiatives and social solidarity in Argentina and the rest of the world.

On the other hand, the Argentine star returned to Barcelona training in the past few days, after recovering from the injury suffered recently.

The Argentinian suffered a serious injury to his right elbow, in the match between Barcelona and Sevilla in the ninth round of the Spanish Premier League.
