Bacteria, or bacteria resistant to antibiotics, are a major concern for doctors around the world, but a group of scientists have come up with an unexpected solution that could help eliminate these bacteria through "eat" viruses.
The virus, "bactericidal", is a virus capable of "eating" bacteria. Eagles are the most common living organisms on earth.
The bacteriophages differ from disease-causing viruses such as influenza and Ebola, as they do not harm humans, but only "eat bacteria", the Daily Mail reported.
But these viruses do not eat all kinds of bacteria. Every "bacterium" virus eats a specific type of bacteria, so these treatments are designed according to each infection. At present, this method of treatment has been useful only in specific areas.
Critics of this method say that it is still less effective than regular antibiotics. Viruses leave the system quickly, so they are only slightly ineffective.
Despite these criticisms, a pilot program at the University of California, USA, using bacteriostatic viruses to treat people who have no hope of success in other ways, scientists have already succeeded.
