English football legend accused of sexual assault

Police on Monday charged the sexual abuse of English football legend Paul Gascoin, who had a controversial life during and after his career.
Gascoen, 51, former Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United, was arrested at the Durham train station last August before being released later as police continued to investigate the incident.

Gascoigne, who was one of the leading players of his generation, is due to appear in court on December 11.

Gascoigne played for England in 57 games between 1988 and 1998, but he had long-term treatments for alcohol and drugs.

He was crowned by international headlines at the 1990 World Cup when he was in tears for a semi-final warning against West Germany.

The warning would have prevented Gaskwane from participating in the final round, but the "Three Lions" team failed to reach this role.
