Incubator "Massacre" California .. Quiet and former military

US authorities revealed Thursday the identity of the gunman who killed 12 people in a nightclub in Ventura County, California.
Ian Long, who opened fire on the Borderline bar Wednesday night, was a former Marine, aged 29, authorities said.

It turned out that Long had mental problems, according to health experts, who acknowledged this after an incident at his home in April, according to the newspaper "Daily Mail" British.

Long killed 11 people inside the bar and one of the first policemen on the scene before committing suicide.

Survivors said he "seemed to know what he was doing", where he repeatedly fired from a Glock pistol, which he had acquired legally.

As dozens fled to survive, hiding under billiard tables and using bar seats to break windows to escape, Long continued to shoot and threw smoke bombs to jam the crowd.

When the first police officers arrived at the scene three minutes later, the gunman fired at one of them several times before shooting himself.

Long was dressed in black, wearing a baseball cap, sunglasses and a mask covering the bottom of his face. He also arrived at the bar in his mother's car.

He walked to the entrance at 11:20 pm and shot the guard before he entered the area, then shot a young woman before throwing smoke bombs at the dance floor and shooting the crowd.

The bar is popular with college students because it allows people under 21 years of age to enter on Wednesday night.

The University of Pepperdine confirmed Thursday morning that some of its students were among the students in the bar, and did not confirm if they were among the dead.

Witnesses said that Long did not say anything during the operation, and was coherent and quiet throughout the time of the massacre, and also appeared strong physical structure confirms its military history.
