Solari adds more mystery to his future with Real Madrid
Real Madrid coach Santiago Solari said on Saturday that he was interested in Saturday's Celta Vigo match in the Spanish league's 12th phase, refusing to discuss his position on whether to stay or leave.
Under the rules of the local federation, the royal club will have to make a decision before Monday on whether Solari, who was appointed temporarily after the dismissal of Julien Loptegui, will be appointed as a permanent coach or replaced by someone else.
Real Lopez was dismissed on October 29 after a series of bad results for the European champions in the last three seasons. The coach was appointed as a temporary substitute by a two-week contract.
Although the names of several candidates for Ronaldo's training have been mentioned, such as Portugal's Leonardo Gardim and Spain coach Roberto Martinez, keeping Solari is a possible option, especially as the team has won three games under various competitions.
"Every game is decisive," Solari said at a news conference on the eve of the solutions as a guest of Celta Vigo at the end of stage 12 of the Liga.
"We can focus on the game and I think it is positive that everyone, including the players, focus on the next game," he said.
"Our long-term planning is not one of my tasks," he said. "Our role, who are close to the pitch, is to prepare for the next game with maximum concentration."
Solari stressed that the players dealt with him seriously and positively, adding: "I feel all the engagement and seriousness they provide in every game."
Solari, who has been criticized for his poor scoring contribution, has scored a goal in the fourth round of the Champions League on Wednesday.
"I admire him everywhere (on the pitch), what Bill has to do is eat the field every time he plays, as he did against Victoria Plzen," he said.
