The Blue City .. The Magic Of Morocco And The Andalous Of Andalusia
If you go to the town of Blue City, wherever you go, make sure that you are in the shawn or as some people call it Chefchaouen, a Moroccan city that has a dress that combines the beauty of nature with the tranquility of the place.
Over five centuries ago, the Château has been established, but it is still well-preserved and authentic. It is famous for its distinctive architecture and its closest shops to museums and its blue color, which preserves the character of Chaunian culture.
In this regard, the civil activist, Mohammed Amor, told Sky News Arabia that the city's original architecture, with red-roofed roofs and small gardens in the courtyards, its decorative doors and wide arches, refers to the ancient cities of Andalusia.
Because it is coated with goat-like peaks, the name Ash'oon is inspired by the Amazigh dictionary, meaning "the horns," but the most commonly used name in Morocco is Chefchaouen.
The city has many titles, some of which it describes in the blue city, some of which are called "the city of tourism and culture", while others prefer to call it "the city of Ali bin Rashid," in reference to the name of its founder.
Coexistence and cross-fertilization of religions
Historians say the city was built by Prince Ali bin Rashid to house Muslims and Jews expelled from Andalusia in 1471, making it a land of coexistence and cross-fertilization of religions and cultures.
Amor revealed that the city was a kiss for fighters who found in its strategic location a stronghold where their convoys gather to resist foreign occupation, adding that the site was then chosen to be a center for the planning of military operations to defend and attack.
Chefchaouen has over 4,000 square kilometers of land in Morocco and rises to about 600 meters above sea level, with a population of about 50,000.
Traditional character and beautiful spaces
Carpentry, sewing, cupping, blacksmithing, tanning, tanning, and other craftsmanship received great popularity in the shun, which was famous for traditional industries thanks to the immigrants from Andalusia who accompanied Rashid at the beginning.
The tourist often begins his tour of the "bath pigeons" through a nearby military fortress, without forgetting the eye of the "water head" and the surrounding mountain peaks, before concluding his visit by lounging in the old alleys and traditional shops.
The "Waterhead", the only water resource in Chefchaouen, is one of the tourist spots that attract visitors' attention. It is unique in its charming nature, its fresh waterfalls, its lush green trees and its diverse facilities.
The Kasbah is also one of the city's most historic buildings, as it is one of the first buildings to be built in the Andalusian way.
The "Kasbah" is a large historical museum, with artifacts, drawings and engravings, surrounded by a wall with 10 towers. To end your tour of the Kasbah, it is advisable to go upstairs to enjoy a panoramic view of Chefchaouen.
City Tourism and Culture
Since the last decade, the city has become an important tourist destination in the north of the country. During the holidays, there is a large influx of Moroccans and tourists, brought by landscapes and historical exploits.
The "blue city" welcomes tourists from around the world, especially Asia, where the Chinese lead the list with about 10,000 visitors, followed by Japanese (3,000), according to a report by the regional tourism commission in Shafshon.
The number of Spaniards, Portuguese, French and Americans who visited the city during the first half of 2018 was also high.
The total number of tourists to Chefchaouen, in the same period, about 20 thousand tourists, compared to 14500 last year.
For his part, Mohammed Amor told Sky News that tourism in Chefchaouen is growing annually, reflecting its multi-faceted tourism importance. "This city gives more than a few reasons to enjoy, because what is unique in its advantages And only in its characteristics. "
Pearl of the North
One of the most famous works in Morocco, which deals with a collection of historical stations and facts of the Shawn, is the book "Chefchaouen the Pearl of the North" by Avdalak Ben Maimon, and "Chefchaouen: The Phenomenon and Customs of Non-Islamic Heritage" by the poet and writer,
The writer spoke in his introduction to the phenomenon of Sufism, which has been known to Chefchaouen since its founding in 1471, where he toured the reader in the oldest angles known to the city and its surroundings. He also touched upon the art of "hahra ha-shafshonia" and "praise and hearing".
In his book, the author emphasizes the description of Chefchaouen as "the city of tourism and culture". He reviewed a number of personalities who left their mark in various fields, be they scientists, writers, poets, artists or politicians, such as the Ben Maimon dynasty, Mohammed bin Ayad al-Houti and Mr. Ahmed Al-Sharif Al-Alami ..
