The most famous meal in Britain threatened with "disappearance"

The fish and potato meal, one of the most popular British meals, is threatened by the waste of plastics that build up in the seas and endanger marine life, an environmental advocacy group warned.
In an effort to shed light on the magnitude of the danger, the Ozenzio K. Society agreed with a restaurant in Blackburn, in the north of the country, to provide a meal for hungry customers from a fish-shaped fried plastic instead of the usual cod with potato chips.

"The amount of plastic that reaches the oceans not only threatens the future of fish, but also our future," said Jeff Bryanti, the association's technical director, adding: "If we continue at this rate, our favorite popular meal will not only become a memory of the past, but we will also face other catastrophic problems on our planet."

The Future Fish & Chips campaign launched by the association is the latest in a series of global efforts by environmental organizations and the United Nations to reduce disposable plastics.

Large brands have pledged to cut all plastic waste in their operations as popular pressure on manufacturers and retailing increases.
