US President Donald Trump on Friday condemned his French counterpart's comments on the creation of a strong European army such as Russia, China and even the United States, saying his proposal was "very humiliating."
When Trump and his wife Melania arrived in Paris on Friday for the centenary of the end of the First World War, the president chanted "President Macaron proposed the creation of a European army against the United States, China and Russia."
"This is very humiliating, but perhaps Europe must first pay its contribution to NATO, which is largely funded by the United States," he said.
