Trump appoints former journalist ambassador to the United Nations

US President Donald Trump announced on Friday the appointment of Foreign Office spokeswoman Heather Naort as US ambassador to the United Nations, replacing Nicky Healy.
Naourt previously worked for Fox News before becoming a spokeswoman for the State Department.

The 48-year-old Nawart received the job last November after she met Trump at the end of October, the Guardian reported.

According to Bloomberg, Naort's choice is not normal, given that she does not have much experience in government or foreign policy.

Nicky Healy announced in October that she would step down by the end of this year, having held the job for 18 months.
