A Pakistani death has set himself on fire to protest police corruption
Pakistani officials announced on Monday the death of a driver who had set himself on fire to protest a police request for a bribe.
Mohammed Khaled Sabah died of severe burns in Karachi, two days after setting himself on fire.
According to the Associated Press, the Pakistani Geo TV station, Khalid burned himself, in protest against the request of police officers bribe, in return for not releasing a violation of about a quarter of what he earns a day.
Karachi police chief Amir Ahmed al-Sheikh commented on the incident, saying "investigations are under way."
Following the incident, the police chief ordered no heavy fines for rickshaw drivers for traffic violations in the city.
