Gingivitis .. A sign of serious illness

A recent study by an Italian university linked the neglect of dental hygiene to high blood pressure, stressing that those with healthy gums and low tooth decay have lower blood pressure and benefit more from high blood pressure medication.
The results of the study, published by the University of "Lucuela" in Italy, that patients with gum disease need regular monitoring of their blood pressure.

Patients with high blood pressure may benefit from daily dental care, according to the study.

The team studied the records of 12,000 Americans who participated in a national health and nutrition examination between 2009 and 2014, where their periodontal disease was examined. The diagnosis came from high blood pressure for more than 4,000 people, most of whom received periodic treatment for the disease.

The researchers confirmed that patients with severe gingivitis had higher systolic pressure than patients with healthy gums.

While the researchers confirm that the results do not indicate that gum disease causes high blood pressure directly, but doctors confirm that the results are consistent with previous research, which found that inflammation of the mouth is linked to damage to blood vessels and heart disease.
