Iran reveals: a monitored spiritual telephone was eavesdropped
TEHRAN (Reuters) - President Hassan Rowhani's mobile phone was monitored, Iranian officials said, without giving further details about who was behind the eavesdropping or what information they might have obtained.
Iran's official IRNA news agency quoted General Ghulam Reza Jalali, head of the unit responsible for fighting sabotage, as saying that a recently monitored Rohani phone had been found.
Reza Jalali added that the phone would be replaced by a more secure phone, and no further information was disclosed.
Iran moved to boost its electronic capabilities in 2011 after the computer virus "Stuxnet" destroyed thousands of centrifuges within its controversial nuclear program.
