French President Emmanuel Macaron has called for tougher sanctions against any student who threatens his teacher after a student threw a fake gun at his teacher in a class.
A videotape was published earlier this week showing a student standing in a classroom on the outskirts of Paris, threatening his teacher with a fake gun, where he tried to force her to register his presence in the classroom absent.
The media reported that the weapon used by the 16-year-old student was fake and that the suspect surrendered to the police.
"The threat of any teacher is unacceptable," Macron said. "I asked the Minister of National Education and the Minister of the Interior to take all necessary measures to ensure that these actions are punished and banned from our schools."
