Iran's sanctions: package "the most history" comes into force

The second package of US sanctions on Iran entered into force on Monday, specifically targeting the energy sector, after Washington withdrew from the International Nuclear Agreement with Iran in May.
Six months after its withdrawal from the international agreement with Iran signed in 2015, Washington has confirmed the re-imposition of its tougher sanctions on Tehran from Monday.

The European Union, France, the United Kingdom and Germany, which signed the nuclear deal with Iran, which aims to prevent Tehran from acquiring a nuclear weapon, regretted the recent US decision.

US President Donald Trump described the new package as the largest in US history, saying Tehran was no longer in good shape.
