"Sailing" from Turkey to Greece .. a baby buoy
Tourists rescued an immigrant trying to cross the sea from Turkey to Greece using a children's swimming balloon, Turkish local media reported Sunday.
A group of tourists suddenly saw an exhausted immigrant at sea trying to cross from Bodrum in Turkey to the island of Kos in Greece for a children's swimming pool, the Turkish newspaper Hurriyet reported.
Muhajir Nur Mohammed was trying to reach the Greek island of Kos, about 8 miles from the famous town of Bodrum in southwest Turkey on October 19.
The Turkish captain jumped into the water and rescued the exhausted man, who had been swimming for four hours, apparently not swimming, carrying a plastic bag of bread.
The Turkish Coast Guard later arrested the immigrant and sent him to a shelter for immigrants, telling police he had decided to swim to Greece after human traffickers stole his money in Bodrum.
